Hello there, and welcome to matthewstanford.com. I’ve finally done it: I’ve left my full time job to pursue a writing career. Yeah, I’m that kind of ambitious. And reckless.
I’m Matthew Ian Stanford, father, husband, writer. This website will serve as both my blog and my professional web presence. Hopefully I won’t do anything too embarrassing out here, but anything is possible. The idea is that I need a website to share my musings, shamelessly promote myself, and generally establish a home-base here on the internet.
So, here I’ll put in a little biographical information so that you can get a sense of who I am.
I graduated from PennState in 2008 with a degree in political science. Amazingly enough, I was unable to find a job in that field. So, like many fine young Americans, I decided to join the Marine Corps like my father before me, and his father before him. However, the hand of fate struck and I suffered a paralyzing neck injury, which is somewhat prohibitive to a military career.
As I recovered as best I could, I met and married my wife and got a masters degree in humanities from American Public University. I found a dead-end job in late 2013, and my son was born the following February.
Now, two years later, I’ve taken the plunge. I’ve left my miserable job in order to devote my working days to the craft of writing.
Wish me luck.
